Q1 It is well known that one of the key contributors to the historic issues with Lake Hayes water quality has been from upstream land development. What is your position on intensification in the Lake Hayes catchment area?I think we are already putting a strain on the area. I would like to see responsible development which engages the local community and takes into account infrastructure issues and environmental concerns.
Q2a Do you consider the current Coronet Village Fast-Track application that includes 780 residences positive or negative?
Largely negative
Q2b Why do you say that?
Environmental concerns, continued strain on infrastructure and lack of consultation with local residents.
Q3 What infrastructure would you like to see in place to address our traffic and sewerage issues in Queenstown? Please provide specific examples.
I would like to see a stronger focus on public transport to help reduce congestion, free buses for local residents and user friendly cycle ways in high traffic areas that connect established cycle trails. On the issue of sewage, I am currently reading and learning as much as I can but don’t yet have the expertise to confidently make suggestions. I am hugely concerned however and see great importance in getting this right, seeking input from experts and those that can contribute in positive ways. I compost at home and see directly how the natural world can also provide clues to future solutions.
